General

  • Do you travel for shoots?

Yes! Yes. Travel expenses are billed at cost and scoped in advance so there are no surprises.

  • How far in advance do you schedule shoot days?

As early as possible. The best dates go quickly, and earlier booking gives more time for pre-production planning. Most clients book 4–8 weeks out.

  • What does a typical shoot day look like?

You'll have either a half or full day on site. We work through the shot list methodically, adapting to light conditions and the space as the day unfolds. The goal is to leave nothing on the table.

  • What happens after the shoot?

Post-production typically takes as long — often longer — than the shoot itself. You'll receive fully retouched, publication-ready images within 2–3 weeks of the shoot date.

  • What do I need to provide before shoot day?

Three things: a shot list, staging expectations, and confirmed site access. The more prepared the space, the more the day can focus on making great images rather than solving logistics. A pre-shoot call is available for larger or more complex projects.

  • Does the space need to be staged?

Yes. Spaces should be clean, styled, and ready to photograph on arrival. This includes removing clutter, coordinating furniture placement, and ensuring the space reads the way you want it documented. Think of it as presenting the work at its best — not as it typically functions day-to-day.

  • What if the weather doesn't cooperate? Exterior shoots are weather-dependent. If conditions aren't right, we reschedule. This is built into the process — not a disruption to it.

Pricing

  • What do you charge?

Pricing reflects three things: time on site, post-production, and how the images will be used. Full-day and partial-day experiences are outlined, along with licensing options.

  • What's included in the price?

Every shoot includes fully retouched images and a Professional Usage License — perpetual, no renewal fees, covering websites, portfolios, awards, editorial, presentations, and organic social.

  • Can costs be shared with other parties?

Yes, and it's worth considering early. Owners, interior designers, landscape architects, contractors, and product manufacturers may all benefit from the same shoot. Group licensing divides the total cost across parties — the more involved, the lower the per-party investment. Rates are on this page.

  • Do you offer payment plans? Yes, on projects above a certain threshold. Ask when booking.

License & Usage

  • Who owns the images after a shoot?

Copyright remains with the photographer. Clients receive a license for specific uses — similar to how music works. Buying a track doesn't mean you own it; using it in a commercial requires a separate agreement. Most clients find the included Professional Usage License covers everything they need.

  • Is licensing included in your pricing?

All of my commissioned shoots include 10 years of licensing for the following usages: Website, Social Media (photo credit required), Trade Show Display, Corporate Collateral, Professional Competitions, and Wall Display. Additional usage may require additional licensing.

  • Can I share the images with collaborators?

Only licensed parties may use the images. Collaborators interested in usage can obtain the appropriate license — often at a significant discount through group licensing if arranged before the shoot.

  • Is it okay to share photos on social media?

    Definitely! Please include photo credit.
